I had the chance to go to some great training a couple of weeks ago as an Independent Health Advisor for Take Shape for Life. I learned something that has already proved to be very valuable in my own weight loss journey.

It is recommended, while you are on the Phase One “5 & 1 Plan”, to have at least 2 shakes a day. I guess I’d never given much thought to the “at least” part of that recommendation. It was explained to me at this training that the shakes really are the heart of the program. When Medifast started out years ago, it was only shakes. Thank goodness they’ve gone on to develop over 60 meals now to break the boredom of just shakes all the time! But the shakes really are the center of the program.

They recommended that if we had clients that were stalled out on their weight loss, to try simply having more shakes for their meals during their day, and maybe even eliminating the daily bar for a week or so, just to vary things enough to break something loose. I decided to take the advice myself to see what kind of effect it would have. For the last few weeks, I’ve tried having four shakes a day, one bar, and then my lean and green. The results have been very promising! I had been at a plateau for a little while now, and this really served to bust through it.  And what’s more, I still wasn’t hungry like I thought I would be having so many shakes.

So, while I don’t recommend doing all shakes all the time – the food boredom would probably sabotage your program – I do recommend increasing the number of shakes for a while if you’ve stalled out a little bit.

Take Shape for Life Success Stories June 3, 2008

Becky and I are having a blast as Take Shape for Life Independent Health Advisors.  As we’ve met with our clients over the last few months, we’ve heard inspiring and life-changing stories like we never expected to hear.

There is the diabetic sawmill worker who had resigned himself to the fact that he would just “die fat” because there was no way he could ever lose weight.  He’s now down 42 pounds and has been able to go from 5 diabetes pills per day to just one.  We can see the fire in his eyes as he looks forward to the life of health, activity, and productivity that is now open before him.

Then there is the retired married couple who has lost 75 pounds between them and have more energy than they’ve had in years and years.  They both look at least 15 years younger… and are acting that way, too!

Then there is the 400+ lb man who has hope again after losing a whopping 23 pounds in just his first week on the program!

Of course, there is also Becky and me… a total of just over 200 pounds now lost between us.   We’ve literally lost one entire overweight person!

It’s hard to express to people how effective this program really is.  It seems every other commercial on television is yet another weight loss program or diet pill, all claiming to be the best solution.  There really is no power of effectiveness in making the claim that any particular program is the “best”, because everybody is claiming that.  So many programs don’t live up to what they promise that people are extremely skeptical of every program… as was I.

All I can say is that I believe in this program.  I have seen it completely change my wife’s life.  I am living the process of it completely changing my own.  And now we are getting the incredible opportunity of helping other people allow it to change their lives as well.   There really is something different about it.  If your weight has become a crisis in your life, I hope you’ll allow us to help you as your Independent Health Advisors.

Be sure to check out the main site at www.SlimPossible.org for more information or give us a call at (208) 514-1453.  You really can weight dramatically less just 30 days from now.

Also, keep in mind that the weight loss success stories above are not representative of typical weight loss on this program.

My wife, Becky, is doing AMAZING with this program. She is now down 139 pounds! That’s incredible, and I am so excited for her. She owes her success to being very dedicated to the program. She is an excellent example of how to do this program — with a 100% commitment. (more…)

We had our first Take Shape for Life support meeting in Ontario, Oregon last night after starting a group there four weeks earlier. I have to say, it was as much support and encouragement for me as it was for those who attended! It was really exciting to see that people had survived the first difficult week of hunger and transition and were starting to see some results… some in some great initial weight loss numbers, some in better blood sugar numbers, some in already-improving blood pressure numbers, some in changing dress sizes, and some in just plain feeling a lot better. It really is an honor to be involved in introducing this great health system to people and watch it begin to change their lives just as it has so dramatically changed ours.

Things are encouraging this week! I noticed last night, before my weigh-in this morning, that I’m down to the last notch on my belt! I’m not sure why I didn’t realize it was going down… I guess I just didn’t pay much attention. It’s easy to see on my belt where I’d been before because the holes kind of stretch out once I use them. I’m down 5 belt holes! That’s exciting. It’s strange how I really can’t see too much of a difference when I look in the mirror, but the difference has to be there! Anyway, on to the results… (more…)

Well, after a brief period of cheating, which I’ve described in detail over the past few days, I’m back on the program and feeling good! And there is nothing like a good weigh-in to make a person really feel good! Here are the numbers at the end of week six. (more…)

As you know from my last post, I had some challenges staying on the program last week. But, with a fresh commitment and dedication to working the program to a tee, the weight is starting to come off again! I was going to wait to get on the scale until Monday morning for my ‘official’ weigh-in, but I was too curious to see if getting back on track was making a difference. Wow! Is it ever! (more…)

Well, honestly, I blew it this last week. It doesn’t suffice just to say that I cheated and then got back on the program again. I think the reasons I cheated and what led up to it are more important than the fact that it happened. (more…)

Well, we had our first seminar last night, and I wanted to say a few “Thank You”s. First of all, many thanks to Dr. James Bingham for coming out to do the presentation. His knowledge and belief in the program are very evident as he speaks about it. And thank you so much to all of those who came out! We had a great turnout… good enough that we are definitely planning to start doing free monthly support meetings in the Ontario, Oregon area. Watch for announcements concerning that soon. (more…)

As we are preparing for the seminar this coming Tuesday, one of the most common questions I seem to be getting is, “Is it expensive?” I’m not quite sure how to answer that. I guess there are several answers, really. After all, ‘expensive’ is kind of a relative term. (more…)
